ISC PROJECTS
The research focus of the Irish Seaweed Centre is on applied phycology and is multidisciplinary in nature incorporating, biology, biotechnology, and marketing. The Centre uses R&D of seaweed to promote and develop the use of seaweeds in a general sense, while acting as a liasing body between the seaweed industry and research institutions and other universities. Main areas of research of the Irish Seaweed Centre are: Mariculture of novel seaweed species, seaweeds for human food, fine chemicals for cosmetics, harvesting and resource management, biomedicine, enzyme bioscreening and bioremediation.
