Bantry Bay (Clare Heardman)
Sherkin Island (courtesy of Marie Mahon)
Roaring Water Bay Co. Cork (ISC)
2005: Several drift plants at Tramore beach Co. Waterford, (indicating that a bed of Sargassum is close)
Large beds at Sandy Cove (Near Kinsale) Co. Cork. (The size of the beds indicate that Sargassum has been
present for at least 2 years).
Established population outside Mullaghmore harbour Co. Sligo (courtesy Dr Dan Minchin). This harbour was
checked in
the original survey of 2003 and was clear of Sargassum at that time.
New records from Carlingford Lough. Drift plants spotted in the Marina, indicating established bed nearby
(Courtesy Dr Dan Minchin).
